SAFETY SUPERVISOR – SINGAPORE

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Safety Supervisor to join a major sand reclamation project in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising daily safety activities, identifying workplace hazards and ensuring safe working conditions at marine and land-based project sites.

The Safety Supervisor must ensure that all operations comply with Singapore’s Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, applicable MOM regulations and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) safety requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Supervise daily site safety activities and ensure all workers follow approved safety procedures.
2. Conduct regular safety inspections at marine and land-based reclamation work areas.
3. Identify unsafe working conditions, unsafe practices and potential hazards, and take immediate corrective action.
4. Ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, applicable regulations and relevant MPA requirements.
5. Monitor sand reclamation operations to ensure work is carried out safely.
6. Ensure risk assessments are conducted and appropriate safety control measures are implemented before work begins.
7. Coordinate with sand suppliers, marine contractors and site supervisors to maintain safe operations.
8. Monitor marine activities, including sand transportation, unloading and reclamation operations, to ensure safety requirements are followed.
9. Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings and regular safety awareness training for workers.
10. Ensure workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
11. Investigate and report accidents, near misses, unsafe acts and workplace safety incidents.
12. Maintain accurate safety inspection reports, risk assessments, checklists and relevant documentation.
13. Coordinate with project management, WSH Officers and other site personnel to improve workplace safety standards.
14. Stop unsafe work activities when necessary and report serious safety concerns to management.
15. Perform other safety-related duties assigned by project management.

Requirements & Qualifications

1. Possess a relevant Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) qualification suitable for the position and project requirements.
2. Minimum 3–5 years of relevant safety experience, preferably in construction, marine or land reclamation projects.
3. Good knowledge of Singapore MOM regulations, the WSH Act and applicable MPA safety requirements.
4. Experience in marine construction, sand reclamation or offshore operations will be an advantage.
5. Able to conduct safety inspections, risk assessments and toolbox meetings.
6. Good understanding of marine operation hazards, safe work procedures and emergency response requirements.
7. Good communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
8. Able to coordinate effectively with workers, supervisors, marine contractors and project management.
9. Responsible, proactive and committed to maintaining high workplace safety standards.
10. Able to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced project environment.
